MRI Tech Aide™ Certificate Program

This MRI Tech Aide (MRTA) certificate program is created to educate and train non-allied and allied health personnel seeking an entry into the field of MRI. Upon completion, graduates will receive a certificate of completion and will be able to apply for jobs in radiology centers, diagnostic MRI clinics and hospitals as an MRI Tech Aide or MRI Tech Assistant.

This position will provide onsite support services between the virtual MRI Technologists (VRT) and patient to ensure MRI examinations run smoothly and patients remain safe while under the care of the diagnostic imaging center.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of healthcare related experience is preferred but relevant service industry experience is acceptable.
  • Medical assistants, dental hygienists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists and other allied health professionals are preferred.
  • Practice receptionists, administrative staff and other clerical positions related to radiology
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized and must be able to convey MRI safety screenings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a thorough MRI Safety Screening and Clearance for all MRI patients.
  • Prepare MRI examination rooms including but not limited to exam table, proper selection of MRI coil and ensuring a comfortable and safe MRI environment for each patient.
  • Perform accurate and comfortable patient positioning in accordance to each MRI examination with targeted landmarking of patient body part.
  • Record detailed patient history and be able to input patient information in PACS.
  • Communicate and provide a calm environment for all patients before, during and at the end of the MRI exam.
